State govt to provide subsidy to procure agriculture machinery

Image HYDERABAD: The state government has come up with another bonanza for farmers and will provide subsidy to procure agricultural machinery, including tractors and harvesters. Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced this at HICC here at a meeting of farmers' coordination committee members and officials to educate them on the farmers' insurance scheme.

"Farmers must do intelligent farming and cultivate crops only for which there is a market. Market research must be done in advance and produce sold only at places where best price is offered. Farmers should do 'on demand' cultivation of crops," KCR said. He also advised farmers to stay united and not sell crops for lower rates. "If less rate is being offered, approach the State Farmers Coordination Committee which will buy the produce for the best price," he said.
KCR referred to a village in Chhattisgarh where farmers had directly dealt with manufacturers and earned a discount of 40,000 on each tractor delivered to their doorstep. Telangana will be divided into 2,500 clusters, each of which will be advised by agri scientists on the best crops. "For instance, ideally only vegetables should be cultivated in Medchal to meet the needs of Hyderabad," he said.
On the insurance scheme, KCR said that unlike the investment support amount that he, as a farmer, had foregone, he would not give up his insurance. "I too will make an application for my insurance as a farmer," he said.
The CM also said that farmers will benefit from June 19 onwards, when water from Kaleshwaram project will arrive. "When that happens, all irrigation tanks will have water throughout the year," he said.
