Addressing Iron Deficiency through Biofortification

This paper attempts to study micronutrient deficiency, with long ranging effects on health, learning ability and productivity, contributes to the vicious cycle of malnutrition, underdevelopment and poverty. In India, malnutrition is particularly prevalent among women, children and adolescents, with almost 50% of children under 5 being reported to be underweight (weight for age) and stunted (height for age). The prevalence of undernourishment among adults in the country is reported to be over 30%.
